Workshop on Research Methodology in Social Sciences begins at KU | KNO

Srinagar, July 22 (KNO) :  Department of Social Work, University of Kashmir (KU) organised a Ten Day Workshop on Research Methodology in Social Sciences which started here at KU on Monday. According to a statement issued to KNO, the inaugural function of the workshop was held at Gandhi Bhawan, University which was presided over by Prof. Nilofar Khan Officiating Vice Chancellor KU. In her presidential remark Prof. Nilofar Khan stressed upon the importance of learning research techniques by the active participation of research scholars in such events. The other guests on occasion included Prof. Asifa Jan, Dean School of Social Sciences, and Director UGC-HRDC Prof. Shabir Ahmad Bhat. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. P.C Joshi, Head department of Anthropology, University of Delhi. In his keynote address he emphasized the need of Evidence Based Research in Social Sciences. On the occasion Dr. Aadil Bashir, Coordinator, Department of Social work, welcomed all the dignitaries and also highlighted the achievements of the department besides emphasizing on the need of conducting the ten day workshop on Research Methodology. Dr. Saima Farhad, Organizing Secretary of the event gave detailed introduction about the workshop. This ten day workshop will focus on the basics of the research and will subsequently discuss advanced parameters in contemporary Social Science Research. The Resource Persons are from diverse backgrounds across the country, like Prof. N. Jayaram (TISS Mumbai), Dr. V. Chakrapani, Dr. Harish Vasishth and Prof. P.C. Joshi. The inaugural session ended with the vote of thanks from Dr. Wakar Amin, Faculty member Department of Social Work, KU.(KNO)
